Watercolor Classes 2024

I love teaching people how to paint in watercolors. Infact, my specialty is teaching the beginning artist. You will learn to embrace all the surprises and nuances that watercolor does when paint, water and paper play together under an artist’s direction, yes, even a new artist. It can feel scary and intimidating and it might even keep you from giving watercolors a try. Sometimes the hardest part of learning watercolors is the showing up part and not even the painting. I get it. In every class I hear, “I can’t draw” or “I’m not the artist in my family, my sister, brother, mother, uncle… whoever is THE artist. I encourage all new artist to try to push aside all they think an artist is and just be in the moment. Besides, an artist no matter what level, does show up. You can do this. Give yourself a try. It would be my honor to introduce you to the beauty of watercolors.

I'm so pleased that I will be partnering with my friend, Christina LaFleur of Winter Oak Wellness.  Christina is a professional dietician, wellness expert and gentle soul of a woman I'm honored to call friend.  Recently she shared a book with me, the New York Times bestseller, Your Brain on Art - How the Arts Transform Us by Susan Magsamen and Ivy Ross.  This book "journeys through the science of neuro-aesthetics, which offers proof of how our brains and bodies transform when we participate in the arts."  I was excited to read that there is science to back what I've believed and experienced through my own watercolor journey and what I've seen with my students I've taught over the years. Christina and I will be working together to help each student find value and "brain strengthening" inspiration in the practice of watercolor as well as working toward a final piece of art each week.  Starting May 10th I will be teaching my traditional watercolor classes at the Bedford exchange in Lynchburg, Virginia.  From 10am to 12pm I will be teaching the different subjects we've chosen for the week.  You can purchase as a four-class group and save some money or purchase them individually.  All materials are supplied. Just tap the button below for all the details.  As always, my classes are geared for the beginning watercolor artist.

We look forward to seeing you in May!
